Job summary

Are you a Pharmacy Technician seeking to gain and develop experience working in primary care. We may have just the job for you!

We are seeking a Primary Care Pharmacy Technician, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council, to join our existing pharmacy team within Southwest Shropshire Primary Care Network (SWS PCN).

Southwest Shropshire is an area of outstanding natural beauty with a rich and diverse landscape. It offers plenty of opportunity for those who enjoy wildlife and exploring the outdoors.

The PCN is made up of 6 practices covering over 36000 patients over a large rural catchment area. The population is generally older than average, with a higher proportion of frail patients. Rural deprivation is a significant issue.

Main duties of the job

You will join our expanding pharmacy team (currently 2 clinical pharmacists (1.4 WTE) and 1 pharmacy technician (1.0 WTE) to support and sustain the care our practices are providing for their patients. You will work across all the practices in the PCN, supporting medicines optimization, repeat prescribing, prescribing safety and achievement of relevant QOF and PCN targets. We are keen to work with dynamic, innovative individuals and will encourage you to develop your own interests and new ways of doing things, where these fit with the overall aims of the PCN. Examples of new services developed by our current team within the network include:

  1. Practice based pain management service supported by a local consultant.
  2. Pharmacist-led Asthma and COPD review service.
  3. Pharmacy Technician led work with local food banks to identify those with unmet medical needs.

We are happy to consider part time or job share applicants.

As the PCN covers a large rural area, with limited access to public transport, you must be able to drive and have access to a car, to allow travel between practices and to patients homes as needed.

About us

You will be employed on behalf of SWS PCN by Our Health Partnership. Professional Leadership will be provided by the Consultant Pharmacist at OHP and the Lead Clinical Pharmacists in the PCN.

Our Health Partnership is one of the UKs biggest GP partnerships. It brings together 30 Practices running across 42 surgeries in the Midlands and Shropshire. We also support 10 Primary Care Networks in the same areas. By using our shared expertise to tackle the challenges of GP practice today, we can keep local surgeries thriving and provide the excellent care that our patients need now and into the future.
