Job summary

Here at North West Leicestershire we value our Pharmacy Team and are looking to create a new role to better support our superb team of Pharmacy Technicians. You will be an experienced Pharmacy Technician who is already in a leadership role, or who wants to develop into this area. Alongside the role of Pharmacy Technician you will have time to guide, develop and support our team of technicians to get the very best out of them. You will be employed by North West Leicestershire Federation and work at one of our local practices alongside your role as Senior Pharmacy Technician.

Main duties of the job

You will lead a team of Pharmacy Technicians, ensuring they have the support to perform their roles and develop their careers. You will work with our 12 member practice to promote the role of a Pharmacy Technician to develop and innovate the work that our Pharmacy Technicians do. We are keen to develop new Pharmacy Technicians within our practices and to retain and invest in our existing team.

The North West Leicestershire GP Federation consists of 12 GP Practices covering 111,000 patients. The GP Federation operates the North West Leicestershire Primary Care Network which is the largest within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We want to support the development of the team and provide additional capacity as the service grows. Job responsibilities

North West Leicestershire GP Limited is a federation of 12 General Practices who work collaboratively to offer services at scale for our patients. The Federation is responsible for the running of the North West Leicestershire Primary Care Network and this exciting opportunity will involve working closely with the GP Practices and PCN to deliver and develop new clinical services and pioneer new ways of collaborative working for the benefit of our patient population.

The post holder is an experienced PCN Pharmacy Technician, who acts within their professional boundaries, supporting and supervising, developing, and mentoring a team of Pharmacy Technicians in general practice and the wider PCN.

The post holder will create, develop, and deliver induction programmes and training for new starters within the Pharmacy team, to ensure team members are supported and integrated well within practices.

The post holder will provide clinical leadership, guidance, daily supervision, monitoring and mentoring of the Pharmacy Technician team. They will also ensure Appraisals & Clinical Supervision meetings are completed in a timely manner.

The post holder will be expected to work efficiently to achieve cost-effective prescribing, provide advice and support for both patients and colleagues, undertake all duties expected within this continuously developing role. Lead and ensure concise and accurate PCN & Federation audits are conducted.

The post holder will develop processes to ensure continuity across the federation in the delivery of the pharmacy team commitments. The role will work closely with the Lead Clinical Pharmacists, Senior Clinical Pharmacists, Clinical Directors, Workforce Management, Practice Management and Pharmacy Teams.

Please note you will be required to work within the practice as a Pharmacy Technician, the number of sessions will be dependent on the whether a part-time or full-time role. You may also be required to provide absence cover at short notice to ensure continuity of service within the PCN practices.

The post holder will be required to undertake any other duties as deemed reasonable within the PCN and Federation to support the adherence of the PCN DES Contract.

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a patient facing role.

  • BTEC/NVQ3 Pharmacy Services (or equivalent)

  • Ability to inspire, lead, motivate and develop staff.
  • Adopts leadership styles appropriate for the situation and the individual.

  • Good communication skills, verbal and written, with ability to adjust communication style and content to suit the audience.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrates attention to detail, able to work accurately, identify errors quickly and easily.
