Job summary

Household Assistant

16 hours per week covering all shifts Monday to Sunday includes Bank Holiday working

A rewarding career that makes a difference.

Our staff and volunteers make St Andrews Hospice. Without our committed and caring workforce we could not provide the outstanding home from home service within our local community. We have about 180 staff, including 68 clinical staff, enabling us to provide vital 24-hour care, seven days a week.

We have a very rewarding opportunity for a Household Assistant. We are looking for someone that has experience within a cleaning role, ideally with experience of working within a care environment. If this sounds like you then we would love to hear from you.

In return we offer you:

  • Competitive salary
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Tolls paid for staff who live over the Humber Bridge
  • Generous annual leave allowance
  • Access to excellent staff benefits
  • Continued professional development
  • Flexible working

Main duties of the job

As a member of the Household Team you will work under the supervision of the Household Supervisor, working as part of a multi-functional team, whilst contributing towards the excellent standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the Childrens, Adult and Non-Clinical Departments of the Hospice.

Previous cleaning, household and housekeeping experience is essential with full awareness and training in COSHH and infection control. In addition, basic knowledge of a palliative care or care setting environment, though not essential, would be an advantage in this role.

Flexibility is key to this support services role with working hours based upon an internal rota which includes mornings, days, evenings, weekend and bank holiday working.

About us

As one of the local leading providers of palliative and end of life care, St Andrews Hospice is a highly successful and forward-thinking charity, offering both adult and childrens services. With an excellent reputation both in the local community and beyond, we reach over 800 patients and their families in North East Lincolnshire and our wider catchment area of Lincolnshire, Hull and East Yorkshire for our childrens services.

Working for St Andrews Hospice offers a very rewarding career with a fantastic team, with 180 Hospice staff, a large well-equipped Hospice site and 21 charity shops working together to ensure that patients and their families have the best possible experience and receive the highest quality of care.
