Job summary

We are delighted to be supporting Brunswick Surgery with their recruitment for a salaried GP.

We are looking for a motivated and forward thinking GP to join the friendly and enthusiastic teaching practice, working from purpose-built award winning premises. Situated in leafy Surbiton, Southwest London, Brunswick is located within easy reach of central London, the A3 and M25.

Main duties of the job

  • The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
  • The provision of services commensurate with the primary care contract
  • Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  • Effective management of long-term conditions
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
  • On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
  • Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
  • Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
  • Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
  • Ensure compliance with the appraisal/check-in process
  • Prepare and complete the revalidation process
  • Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team.
  • Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines
  • Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:

  • Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead, engaging in appropriate lifelong educational and audit activity in order to maintain clinical competence and performance, including the completion of objectives agreed by yourself and the practice
  • Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
  • Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e., root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Actively participating in the training and development of nurses, medical students and GP trainees in the practice.
  • Supporting the practice patient services/administration team and responding to requests for advice and assistance from the practice reception, secretarial and nursing staff.
  • Attend prescribing, palliative care, clinical governance and practice meetings.
  • Provide additional enhanced services to the practices that meet the needs of the practices patient population and maximise the income streams to the practice.
  • Undertake additional training where necessary to provide these enhanced services
  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, annual QOF Assessment of the Practice.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion of Training CCT) Currently on a PCT performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register
  • A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003
  • MRCGP Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983

Desirable

  • Evidence of further postgraduate educational activities in relevant fields
  • DCH DRCOG RCGP Substance Misuse Certificate Level 1 or 2 F2 supervisor training/teaching diploma (this is essential for HDS)
  • Minor surgery skills

Experience

  • Recent experience of working in general practice in the UK
  • Commitment to and experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary and skill mixed team environment
