Job summary

Tŷ Hafan is a beautiful childrens hospice located on the picturesque Vale of Glamorgan coastline. Covering the South, East, and West of Wales Tŷ Hafan offers a beautiful, newly refurbished working environment set in idyllic grounds a short distance from the metropolitan area of Cardiff.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Bank as Registered Nurses to support our highly experienced care team. We are looking for dedicated nurses with a passion for providing holistic family centred care to a caseload of very special and inspiring children, young people, and their families. As a Tŷ Hafan Bank Registered Nurse you will deliver safe, clinical nursing care to children during stays at the hospice, support the participation of the child and family in all aspects of their care delivery giving you plenty of opportunity to develop your career in nursing. In addition, you will work closely with a wider team of professionals to provide truly intuitive and creative care that goes beyond just clinical tasks. Main duties of the job

As a Bank Registered Nurse your responsibility will be to deliver safe, clinical nursing care to children resident in the hospice, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure continuity of care. We are looking for Registered Nurses with the skills to assess, plan and deliver individualised nursing care, providing evidence-based clinical intervention in line with current guidelines, regulations and policies. Our skilled team provide specialist care for children and young people with a wide range of complex conditions therefore, at Tŷ Hafan your work will be extremely varied, and deeply fulfilling.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Tasks

To provide safe and evidence based clinical care to children and young persons resident in the hospice, and to support the continuity of this care in the wider community when necessary.

To advocate for participation of the child and their family in all aspects of care delivery, in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team ensure that the total needs of child and family are met.

To ensure care delivered is in line with current regulations and guidance provided through professional bodies.

To support the assessment, planning and delivery of individual nursing care.

To administer medication and clinical interventions in line with Tŷ Hafan policy, NICE guidelines and NMC requirements.

To recognise and respond appropriately to clinical deterioration in children and young people.

To participate in standard setting, audit, data collection and quality review.

To utilise equipment and resources in a cost-effective way, in line with the concept of prudent healthcare.

To communicate effectively and in a timely and most appropriate manner with colleagues, children and families.

To maintain accurate, clear and contemporaneous records and documentation in line with NMC requirements.

To engage in other duties as appropriate to the band and level of responsibility of this role. Whilst consider own level of confidence and competence, ensuring delegated tasks are within own level of experience and training.

To maintain and extend clinical skills to meet the needs of the children in our care, through undertaking relevant training and competency assessment as appropriate to your role, in support of continued professional development.

To maintain and engage in Mandatory training, ensuring compliance remains within the agreed levels, adhering to organisation requirements enabling confident and competent practice.

To ensure you comply with NMC revalidation and annual re-registration requirements.

To share knowledge, experience and skills to benefit of others including colleagues and students. Supporting in the training of others as appropriate in line with the NMC code of practice.
