The Senior Discovery Manager is an exciting new opportunity at UCLPartners that sits within our Enterprise team and will play a pivotal role in supporting our early innovation and discovery work. The successful post holder will work closely with the Director of Discovery on co-creating problem statements with our partners using a system thinking approach, and horizon scanning for early innovation to establish an innovation pipeline across digital health and medtech.
This role is suited to individuals who are looking to understand the core problems of a system pathway, are driven by improving health and social care through adoption and development of innovative solutions, and who have a strong attention to detail, as well as the ability to develop networks and build relationships to achieve organisational objectives.

- Develop operational pathways to support the development of our academic research, Biomedical Research Centres and Academic Health Science Centre innovation pipeline
- Work with health technology companies to assist them in understanding local and national health and care needs, how to access innovation resources, organisational structures, funding mechanisms, decision-making processes, and requirements for evidence and evaluation
- Provide expert input and advice on innovation review meetings
- Create a close link to the Solutions function to ensure priority themes are supported
- Deliver innovation focussed events to support collaborations between early research innovators and industry, within specific health and care settings
- Research early market intelligence and facilitate relationships between health technology companies and local subject matter experts to support early innovation development
- Support the development of locally developed innovation and advise on appropriate adoption and scale up routes
- Inform the development of research proposals and funding applications with Real World Validation considerations
- Inform market insights to support options appraisals
- A commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and an understanding of how these principles apply to this role, both internally and externally
- Capture and share key learning points to support innovation development from research to implementation
- Work with the UCLPartners patient and public involvement and engagement team to ensure that the views, perspectives and insights of patients, carers and the public inform problem definition and innovation adoption
