Main duties of the job

We are looking for an innovative and proactive leader who can shape the way we tell our story, connect with our communities and inspire support for the hospice at a time when it has never mattered more.

About us

At St Catherines Hospice, we are entering a pivotal new chapter. This year sees the launch of our new organisational strategy, which keeps outstanding patient care at its heart, while placing a renewed focus on community engagement and the growth of voluntary income.

Like many hospices, we face significant financial challenges, and we know we cannot overcome these without a strong, strategic focus on marketing and communications.

  • Proven track record of developing and delivering successful marketing and communications strategies in a complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of current and emerging trends in marketing and communications, including digital, service marketing, and audience-led approaches.
  • Demonstrable experience of brand management, corporate communications and reputation building.
  • Significant experience of managing media relations, PR and crisis communications.
  • Experience of managing budgets, resources, suppliers and business processes to ensure value for money.
  • Strong leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences and inspire engagement.
  • Strong digital skills, including experience of content strategy, social media, websites, email marketing and analytics.
  • Proven ability to embed marketing and communications practice across an organisation, supporting non-specialists to build skills and confidence.
  • Knowledge of data protection, safeguarding, copyright, intellectual property and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience of monitoring, evaluating and reporting on marketing and communications activity using data and insight.
