Main duties of the job
Are you passionate about palliative care nursing? This is an exciting opportunitytogaintheknowledge and skills required to become aCommunity Clinical Nurse Specialist in PEOLC.You will join our talented team, working alongside specialists in PalliativeCare, to help make a positive difference in the Community.
About us
Working as part of a supportive and integrated clinical team,covering East Surrey and West Sussex, you will make a difference to local patients and their families by offering expert advice and care seven days a week including face to face scheduled visits and telephone support with occasional out of hours visits. Working alongside primary care network colleagues you will deliver specialist palliative care to people at the end of life, youll have shared clinical responsibility for patients referred to the hospice, supported by our community manager and the medical team.

Youll have the passion to always improve and advance and be happy to participate in a rota system with your team colleagues to provide 7 days a week cover. This makes sure there is always someone available on our telephone line to support our patients and their families. Youll also contribute to a positive working environment with an emphasis on teamwork and cooperation.

Qualifications
Essential
- First degree in nursing (CV)
- Evidence of working within palliative care or similar (I)
- Experience of working as a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and evidence of recent CPD (I)
- Clean UK Driving Licence and use of own vehicle
Desirable
- Leadership experience (I)
- Physical assessment skills (or willingness to undertake) (I)
- Independent prescriber (or willingness to undertake). (I)
Experience
Essential
- Experience of caring for dying people (Ap)
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with good command of spoken English and numeracy skills. (Ap and test)
- Understanding of clinical governance including patient safety (I)
- Confident in use of electronic records
- Able to confidently use computer packages such as PowerPoint, Word etc
Desirable
- Experience of audit, standard setting and/or clinical governance
- Knowledge of symptom control towards the end of life (I)
- Demonstrate understanding of current professional nursing issues relating to palliative and end of life care
- Community Nursing experience
