Job summary

Are you a creative Nursery Nurse or aCare Worker? If so, we invite you to join our friendly team where you will provide a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for the children and families we support! Helen House provides a 24/7 service and while previous experience working with children with special needs or in a hospice setting is not essential it would be an advantage.

Band 3 pay range: £26,416 - £27,976 per annum pro rata

Full-time and part-time hours considered. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and during school holidays is required, as care is provided at the familys request. Rotas are issued six weeks in advance so you will be given appropriate notice of your working hours/pattern.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of the Helen House Care Team, alongside Registered Nurses within a multi-disciplinary team, youwill focus on delivering excellent care. By encouraging and building children's concentration, creativity, and sense of discovery, you will make a difference to their and their familys lives. In this palliative and respite care setting, we are able to offer our children one to one care and create wonderful memories.

We are looking for candidates who possess an NVQ/Diploma in Health and Social Care/Nursery Nurse or equivalent qualification alongside consolidated experience in a related care setting. You will be a skilled communicator, able to adapt communications to a wide range of people and situations. As part of your role, you will be expected to implement activities for special needs children and sick children while using your own initiative and also working as part of the team.

Helen & Douglas House is a registered hospice charity based in Oxford, providing palliative, respite, end-of-life and bereavement care to life-limited children and their families. Job responsibilities

You will work as part of the care team, caring for children with complex needs or sick children, and theirfamilies, alongside experienced and nursing staff members and as part of the wider multi-disciplinaryteam. You will participate in the day-to-day care of patients and to offer support to the families, andparticipate in personal training and development, attending all relevant training courses asrequired/identified by the Clinical Lead. You will be expected to always maintain confidentiality (working with the Data Protection Act), ensure the house is prepared for admissions, sharing responsibility forcleanliness and other domestic tasks, and share responsibility for the smooth running of the House inproviding a suitable and safe environment for the physical and psychological well-being of patients,families, visitors, and staff.
