We have a fantastic opportunity for a Nursing Assistant to join our Myton at Home team. The Myton at Home service provides expert and compassionate care to patients in their own homes, at a crucial time in their lives.
Please note that you must have two years experience of hospice, hospital or community nursing and a Level 3 NVQ/QCF or equivalent to be considered for this role.
This role involves night shifts as a lone worker in patients' homes in Rugby, Warwick and Leamington, between the hours of 10pm and 7am, Wednesday to Friday, and occasional shifts in our Inpatient Units.

Main duties of the job
Our Myton at Home Nursing Assistants:
- Assist patients with personal and emotional care
- Assess and respond to patients' needs
- Work collaboratively and liaise with other external partners, such as the Rapid Response night team, to deliver holistic care
- Communicate sensitively with patients, families and caregivers
- Maintain electronic patient records
About you

Job responsibilities
To support the nursing team in the delivery of nursing care to patients and their families/caregivers, in their own home, providing evidence-based, individualised end of life care. To support the Primary Healthcare teams in the delivery of their services, in line with the District Nurse's care plan, whilst adhering to statutory regulations and Hospice policies.
- To work under the direct and indirect supervision of the Hospice at Home Lead in the delivery of quality holistic nursing care for patients in their own homes
- Respond to the specific needs of palliative care patients and their significant others, in line with agreed care plans
- Recognise and report/escalate any changes in patients' condition and work collaboratively with external partners, such as the Rapid Response night team
- Communicate effectively and sensitively with patients, their significant others, and other professionals, referring questions and concerns to the appropriate personnel
- Assess and reassess patients' capabilities as needs change regarding assistance with the activities of daily living and emotional care including: personal care including hair, nails and shaving; mouth care; toileting needs, continence issues/care; drinking and eating; mobility, assisting patients and utilising safe moving and handling techniques/equipment to help maintain skin integrity; comfort measures and reassuring presence; provide emotional support to patients and those that are important to them, including post-bereavement support
- Ensure safe and responsible use of equipment, identifying and reporting any malfunction, taking action to maintain safety as directed
- To provide practical support to the family in terms of guidance and advice around safe delivery of personal care when appropriate
- Where appropriate, assist with last offices and support other nursing staff with the care of the deceased
- Help promote and maintain an environment that is safe and conducive to meeting the needs of patients, their relatives and friends
- Promote and maintain dignity and privacy at all times
- Take into account, and meet, the physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs of the patient, their relatives and friends
