Job summary

We have a fantastic opportunity to work within in our outstanding team as a Registered Nurse within a specialist palliative care unit. We are looking to strengthen our team caring for palliative patients with complex needs. Utilising and developing your existing skills. Working with senior staff, you will role model the St Gemmas values and behaviour framework.

Main duties of the job

As a Registered Nurse you will be expected to care for a team of patients to an exceptional standard of care, with a 1:5 ratio Internal rotation from days to nights

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (Level 1).

Desirable

  • Certificate in Palliative Care/BSc in Cancer Care or associated modules (20 credits ). Supporting Learning in Practice or equivalent (ENB 998, Mentorship in Practice, NVQ/QCF assessor)

Experience

Essential

  • Caring for patients at end of life

Desirable

  • Post registration experience. Management experience, Team nursing experience, Mentorship

Additional Criteria

Essential

  • Research/evidence based practice , End of life care/long term conditions, Infection control ,Information governance
  • Evidence of professional updating.

Desirable

  • Time management/organisational skills . Presentation skills, Good written and verbal communication skills, Positive interpersonal skills .IT skills (use of electronic patient record systems/email) ,Ability to deal with emotive situations.
  • Committed to the Hospice values and ethos . Self-aware, Motivated ,Work as part of a team,Committed to caring for people with end of life care/palliative care needs
