We have an exciting opportunity for a People Business Partner, to join the St Barnabas House People Services team. If you are passionate about recruiting, developing and retaining the best employees, this job could be the job for you.

St Barnabas Hospices offers specialist palliative care through two hospices: St Barnabas House adult hospice in Worthing and Chestnut Tree House childrens hospice near Arundel in Sussex. We also have an office based in Eastbourne and Retail shops across Sussex.

Now is an exciting time to join the team as we set off on our improvement journey to support the organisation its ambitious strategic plans. Whilst some of our five-year strategy projects are already underway, there is plenty of scope to influence projects in the pipeline including the replacement of an HR system, the formulation of workforce and wellbeing strategies, as well playing a key role in embedding our values and behaviours within the organisation.

You would be joining a small, supportive People Team and have full autonomy to collaborate cross organisationally and drive innovation. If this sounds like the job for you, apply today.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining our People Services team who work proactively to support the organisation, predominantly across two sites, St Barnabas House and Chestnut Tree House, but also including the retail side of the organisation. It will be your role to provide advice and guidance to line managers and colleagues, on a variety of HR-related queries.

As a CIPD qualified HR professional, you will demonstrate up to date employment law knowledge and experience dealing with various HR queries throughout the organisation.

As a person, you will be resilient and autonomous, experience of having worked in a charity or clinical environment is desirable but not essential. Knowledge in a healthcare or NHS setting is preferable.

In return for your commitment and enthusiasm, applicants can expect a rewarding and challenging work environment, good work-life balance and workload, plus an excellent benefits package. A full driving licence and your own transport are essential as you will be required to travel and work at other sites across the organisation, as well as work from home on occasions.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Clare Thompson on clare.thompson@stbh.org.uk.

Closing date: 28th August 2023
