Job summary

Would you like to join Londons leading nursing team? We are looking for a dynamic Ward Manager to manage St Francis Ward is a 15 bedded ward specializing in providing care to a variety of medical and stroke rehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will have been working in a similar environment and will be up to date in current practices. Experience will extend to working within a busy ward and professional, multi-disciplinary teams. Ideally, you will have worked in a ward specializing in stroke rehabilitation. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to join a thriving busy team and wants to work with excellent staff to patient ratios.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Provide continuous leadership and operational oversight of the ward, ensuring effective coordination with Duty Managers, Ward Managers, and Consultant Users.

  • Supervise, support and develop the ward team, including shift leaders, nurses, and HCAs through mentoring, delegation, performance reviews, and annual appraisals.

  • Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, individualised and evidencebased patient care across all stages of the patient journey, from admission to discharge.

  • Maintain a welcoming, caring and safe environment for patients and families, upholding high standards of communication, dignity, and compassion.

  • Lead Infection Prevention and Control practices and ensure full compliance with safety checks, clinical audits, and regulatory standards.

  • Manage departmental resources efficiently, including staffing, rota planning, and budget adherence to support smooth operational performance.

  • Support senior nursing leadership by undertaking delegated tasks from the Chief Nursing Officer and Deputy Chief Nursing Officer, contributing to service development and innovation.

  • Promote a culture of safety, learning and accountability by investigating incidents and complaints, implementing action plans, and sharing lessons learned.

    Qualifications

    • Registered Level 1 Nurse with current NMC registration
