The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Check, the cost of which is covered by the hospice. Any post holder within the organisation will be expected to undertake safeguarding training appropriate to their role and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures. All staff must work in accordance with their statutory roles and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding in accordance with the Working Together to Safeguarding Children 2023, The Care Act 2014, and Prevent Duty 2015.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to work within the inpatient unit at our Little Hulton or Heald Green site, supporting patients and those close to them with a life limiting illness.

  • Experience as a Healthcare Assistant. Relevant and recent experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a hospital, hospice, care home, or similar clinical care setting. Evidence required: Description of setting, duties, and duration.
  • Interest in Specialist Palliative Care. Demonstrated interest or exposure to palliative/end-of-life care. Evidence required: Examples such as previous work, shadowing, voluntary experience, or reflective statements.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding. Demonstrated understanding of safeguarding principles for adults and children. Evidence required: Previous training or examples of applying safeguarding.
  • Basic IT competence with evidence of using electronic care records or other digital systems. Evidence required: Systems previously used and purpose (e.g., EMIS, SystmOne, e-rostering, care plans).
  • Ability to Prioritise and Use Initiative. Experience of independently organising or prioritising care tasks in a busy clinical environment. Evidence required: Examples of when they had to prioritise workload.
