The Advanced Nurse Specialist ensures accurate patient documentation and effective communication with the multidisciplinary team. They oversee junior colleagues development, contribute to an effective learning environment, and lead on strategic and organisational education and service development.

Responsibilities include recording, analysing and reporting data, supporting clinical governance, and acting in line with the hospice values and clinical strategy.

The role provides leadership within the 7day community service and urgent response service, demonstrates advanced holistic assessment skills, enables sensitive discussions with patients and families, acts as a specialist resource for the MDT, and supervises clusterbased working.

Main duties of the job

Were looking for a highly experienced professional who can demonstrate:

1st Level Registration, evidence of personal and professional development, and experience of working at senior Band 7 or equivalent.

Significant experience in specialist palliative care, leadership and change management, and working in the community.

Experienced nonmedical prescriber, with clinical skills qualification, or expectation to achieve

Advanced Communication Skills course, and mentorship or teaching experience.

Ability to play an active role in education, work autonomously and as part of a team, and evaluate research to ensure evidencebased practice.

Strong understanding of clinical governance, ability to establish good working relationships, lead change management, and work with a wide range of community stakeholders.

Demonstrates understanding of current issues in specialist palliative care community nursing.
