We are looking for someone to join our Digital team as an Information Governance and Data Specialist

The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS Check at the level appropriate to the role, the cost of which is covered by the hospice. Any post holder within the organisation will be expected to undertake safeguarding training appropriate to their role and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures. All staff must work in accordance with their statutory roles and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding in accordance with the Working Together to Safeguarding Children 2023, The Care Act 2014, and Prevent Duty 2015.

As our Information Governance and Data Systems Specialist (Digital), you'll play a crucial role in ensuring data is accurate, accessible, and protected. You'll collaborate with teams across the organisation to support the configuration of digital systems for efficiency, and provide guidance on best practices for information governance. Every day brings variety, challenge, and the opportunity to make a real difference in the way we work with information.

  • Support the development and implementation of information governance policies and procedures.
  • Support Information Asset Owners with data flow mapping, data protection impact assessments, and information security risk assessments.
  • Manage information requests and rights requests, ensuring compliance with legal timeframes.
  • Maintain governance documentation including registers and logs.
  • Provide training and advice on IG best practices to staff and stakeholders.
  • Investigate incidents and breaches, supporting managers as required.
  • Lead IG audits, identify non-compliance, and support action plans.
  • Prepare and present KPI data and audit reports for the Information Assurance Board.
  • Act as the first point of contact for IG queries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide consultation to partner hospices on IG and digital systems.
  • Support configuration and optimisation of digital systems for data quality, accuracy, and ease of use.
  • Deputise for the Data Protection Officer and Data Systems Manager as needed.

  • Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of Data Protection legislation and IG frameworks, ideally within healthcare or charity sectors.
  • Strong digital literacy: able to analyse, interpret, and communicate information in digital environments.

  • Clear communicator, capable of explaining complex IG concepts to diverse audiences.
