Job summary

We are looking to recruit a registered nurse who is committed to delivering specialist/individualised care in a palliative care setting.

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Band 5, Competency Based Pay Framework (£30,869 - £38,018 pro rata). Enhancements of between 30% and 60% for weekends, bank holidays, unsocial hours

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Sunday)

Day 7:00am 7:30pm

Night 7:00pm 7:30am

* 11.5 hours per shift and a 60-minute break.

The successful candidate will be subject to a Standard/Enhanced DBS Check, the cost of which is covered by the hospice. Any post holder within the organisation will be expected to undertake safeguarding training appropriate to their role and adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures. All staff must work in accordance with their statutory roles and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding in accordance with the Working Together to Safeguarding Children 2023, The Care Act 2014, and Prevent Duty 2015.

Main duties of the job

  • The Staff Nurse will assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of specialist palliative and supportive patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner.
  • As an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team, the postholder will develop and maintain strong working relationships with other healthcare providers.
  • They will contribute to the management and organisation of work as required, ensuring effective communication and maintaining high standards of quality patient care on a shift basis.
  • The role also involves supervising and assessing all learners and unregistered staff, providing teaching and acting as a named mentor.

  • Moya Cole delivers services across three sites. Whilst the postholder will have a specific base, there may be occasions when cross-site or service cover is required.
