Horder Healthcare

Finance Director

The closing date is 22 July 2025

Job summary

Horder Healthcare is seeking an experienced and strategic Finance Director to join their Executive Team at a pivotal time in the charity's journey. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the financial strategy of a well-established, values-led organisation that delivers outstanding orthopaedic and musculoskeletal care across both NHS and private sectors.

As Finance Director you will hold overarching responsibility for the financial leadership playing a critical role in shaping long-term sustainability, driving commercial growth, and ensuring robust governance and accountability. This pivotal role offers a competitive salary in the range of £80,000 to £100,000 per annum, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

You will work closely with a small but dynamic Executive team, Board of Trustees, and senior leaders to stabilise and enhance the finance function, drive improvements, and position Horder Healthcare for strategic development and innovation. This role requires a commercially astute leader, someone happy to get into the detail but with a strong grasp of financial strategy in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment ideally with an NHS or private healthcare background.

Main duties of the job

  • Leading the charity's 5-year financial planning and capital investment strategies.
  • Managing budgeting, forecasting, reserves, and financial reporting to ensure full regulatory and statutory compliance.
  • Driving commercial growth opportunities and ensuring sound financial returns on business initiatives.
  • Overseeing corporate services including Procurement, IT/IM&T, and Estates & Facilities.
  • Acting as lead officer for the Finance & Resources and Audit Committees, and deputising for the CEO when required.
  • Implementing and embedding a charity-wide performance management framework to ensure delivery of strategic and financial targets.

About us

Horder Healthcare has been committed to caring since 1954 when we were called 'The Horder Centre for Arthritis'. We've come a long way since then. Our consultants are amongst the most skilled, experienced and innovative in their field. Our staff love to work here, so it makes sense that our patient outcomes are in the top 99%.

We have grown into a multi-service healthcare provider, with hospitals in Crowborough and East Grinstead, and outreach clinics in Eastbourne and Seaford. We are committed to making a positive impact to the health of individuals and the communities in which we work.

Not only have we developed an international reputation for orthopaedic and musculoskeletal care, our partnership with The McIndoe Centre - the birthplace of pioneering plastic surgery treatments, means that we can deliver high-quality plastic, reconstructive, maxillofacial, ophthalmology and orthopaedic services from world-class consultants to an even greater number of people.

We know that our working lives are fundamental to emotional wellbeing. Our employees are as valuable to us as our patients and we see it as our duty to nurture an engaged and skilled workforce. To do this we ensure employees have access to training and development opportunities as well as being a flexible and diverse workplace.

We are committed to caring, and committed to you.
