Job Opportunity
We are part of a large integrated drug and alcohol service working with some of Cornwall's most excluded and disadvantaged people. We have various positions available in our Drug and Alcohol Outreach and Hospital Outreach. Successful candidates will also work alongside in-house services which include community, clinical, criminal justice and a residential rehabilitation facility.
Drug and Alcohol Outreach
The Drug and Alcohol Outreach Service is recruiting for an additional Outreach Recovery Workers who can be based from either of our main sites (Truro, Penzance or Liskeard). You will work alongside the Adult Community Service and the Young People's Service to ensure that an accessible treatment offer is available to those who find themselves rough sleeping or in insecure accommodation. The Drug and Alcohol Outreach Service is countywide and promotes a holistic multi-agency response to the needs of the individual.
In this exciting role you will be joining a team of people who hold caseloads and work with those sleeping rough or in insecure accommodation, including emergency accommodation and hostels to offer harm reduction, assessment and access to a range of treatment options. As an Outreach Recovery Worker you will be meeting people in their space more often than in an office.
Hospital Outreach
The Hospital Outreach Service provides a rapid response to individuals who are frequent attenders at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro and have issues related to substance use.
The team works within a multi-disciplinary model of practice with partners in safeguarding, housing and homelessness services, domestic abuse services, as well as primary and secondary healthcare and mental health providers.
Due to the outreach basis of this role, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required. The post holder will be required to work 37.5 hours per week with occasional weekend work.
Essential Skills
We are looking for a resilient and committed individual who has an understanding of the problems faced by individuals finding themselves homeless or in insecure accommodation and who enjoys a challenge. Experience of working within substance misuse would be beneficial, although we will provide training.
Evidence of continuous professional development - OCN/NVQ level 3 or equivalent or willing to achieve this within 12 months.Demonstrable experience working in the fields of outreach, housing/homelessness health, social care, criminal justice, domestic abuse, or another specialist settingSuccessful track record of working with substance misuse clientsResilient and the ability to prioritise and work under pressureKnowledge and understanding of health and safety, including assessing high-risk situations for service usersKnowledge and understanding of homelessness, assessment, care planning and key workingAbility to build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders Ability to work effectively as a team player.Full UK Driving Licence and own transport (the role will involve travelling to a variety of centres across Cornwall)Ability to work flexible and unsocial hours as required
