Job summary

We are looking for a Community Engagement Coordinator to join our volunteer service. You will be based in our Truro office.

Main duties of the job

You will work as a key driver of community engagement and volunteer development. In this dynamic role, you'll be responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting Volunteers, Recovery Champions, Peer Mentors, and Students. You'll build strong partnerships with local agencies, coordinate placements, and lead community-based initiatives, including community hubs and social enterprise projects. You'll also manage promotional activities, oversee social investment fund processes, and contribute to the development of training packages and governance systems. Working closely with national and local teams, you'll ensure consistent support, supervision, and impactful community engagement strategies.

    • Volunteer Management Qualification (or commitment to complete within 18 months
    • Training Qualification (i.e. training the trainer)
    • A full UK driving licence and access to a car. You will need to ensure business use is added to your insurance policy

    Experience

    Essential

    • A successful track record of responsibility and development of others
    • Demonstrable experience of working in Health or Social Care
    • Experience of planning and delivering training programmes
    • Experience of working in partnership with a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies
    • Knowledge/understanding of relevant health and safety, including assessing high-risk situations
    • An understanding of the issues facing drug/alcohol misusers
    • Knowledge and understanding of harm minimisation in substance misuse treatment
    • Ability to build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders; good networking skills
    • Ability to work under pressure, and manage competing / conflicting demands
    • Good written and oral communication skills and IT competency
    • Ability to work effectively as a team player in a collaborative and supportive manner
