Main duties of the job
Core Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate professionalism at all times, adhering to the NMC Code of Conduct.
- Deliver patient-centred surgical nursing care, tailored to individual needs and treatment plans.
- Actively participate in resuscitation procedures and emergency care.
- Lead and promote best practices in infection prevention and control to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Supervise and mentor junior nursing staff and students, fostering a culture of learning and professional development.
- Apply evidence-based practice and comply with all relevant policies, procedures, and legislation.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Provide expert nursing care pre-, intra-, and post-operatively for surgical patients.
- Lead resuscitation efforts and emergency response when required.
- Monitor and administer medications and intravenous infusions safely and effectively.
- Conduct and interpret observations, including vital signs and patient samples.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control policies.
- Participate in daily handovers to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation.
- Act as a clinical role model, promoting high standards across the hospital.

- Ability to work flexibly under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Commitment to continuous professional developmenttraining will be provided where needed.
