Main duties of the job

About the Role

We are investing in our Nursing leadership and delivery, and this post is one of three roles joining our dedicated Senior Care Leadership Team who are passionate about making a difference to the difference to the lives of the children and families we support. In this role you will be supporting the hospice teams deliver care to a high standard with a consistent approach. Your focus will be leading on end of life care, community working, clinical standards and patent safety.

About You

You will be a registered nurse with experience of working in a leadership role with clinical experience and competence, including extensive post qualification experience working with children/adults with a life limiting / life threatening condition, chronic illness or disability in a variety of settings; acute, community. A Non Medical Prescriber qualification would be advantageous but this is not essential.

We are looking for someone who understands the role of a hospice and shares the core values and behaviours of the organisation, an approachable confident leader who ensures quality is accessible and achievable for everyone. The post holder must be able to work independently and also collaboratively with a wide range of care and medical staff and managers at all levels. The ability to work with IT and technology is essential.

This post can be based at any of our Hospice locations and to ensure visibility and support, will also be required to travel to all three hospices.

CHSW delivers services to children and their families who have a palliative care need and meet the agreed referral criteria. The CHSW ethos is support the whole family and our current delivery model includes care wherever the child is when they need it most including care at the hospice base, at home and virtual support.

The Lead for Clinical Services will be a key part of the central leadership team working to support the three hospice teams deliver care to a high standard with a consistent approach. There will be a close working relationship with all three Heads of Care and the other central roles and the wider CHSW team to deliver

End of life care & community working: Reflecting our Care Strategy this post holder will take a specific lead on care in the community and end of life care across CHSW supporting all three hospice teams to develop and deliver this service. Working closely with the leads based in each hospice to ensure a consistent approach to EOL care in the home and community working, including engagement of partner agencies and collaborative working.

Clinical standards: Working closely with the hospice based leadership teams to provide leadership and experience to the care teams ensuring that care standards are high, care delivery is responsive and reflects the model of hospice, home and virtual, that families are engaged and the team is well led and supported achieving consistency across CHSW.

The postholder will be visible to the hospice teams and will need to maintain clinical credibility through working regular care shifts as they will have a key role in clinical leadership and standards of care delivery.

This post is also open to non-medical prescribers (not essential) if this is a skill set there will be protected time to undertake this role ensuring the care provided is of the highest quality and staff are supported to develop their clinical skills.

The postholder will support the delivery of clinical quality and patient safety agenda including supporting the hospice based teams with audits, policies, care projects, standards and learning
