Job summary

Are you a GDC registered dental nurse looking to work for a fast paced, forward thinking and dynamic organisation where patients are at the heart of everything we do?

This vacancy is for part time hours, requiring availability on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of a team providing dental telephone triage to patients who contact the service.

To provide clinical assessment, general and analgesic advice, prioritisation of contact and appropriate referral or signposting.

To assist with the provision of cover in call handling duties.

Job responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities which follows represents a range of tasks, which will be undertaken routinely, with consultation and agreement by the post holder:

  • To assess each patient by prioritising the patients condition with the aid of the Adastra and Odyssey Clinical Decision Support Software.
  • To provide a high standard of service to the patient / caller by dealing safely and promptly with each contact
  • To ensure that all referrals are provided with a clinically safe pathway.
  • To provide a high-quality triage assessment of all contacts to the service.
  • Identify life threatening symptoms and act appropriately.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educational / vocational qualification equivalent to NVQ 3
  • Current General Dental Council Registration

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the NHS
  • Knowledge of unscheduled care
  • In depth knowledge of Local and National Requirements
  • Understanding of confidentiality regulations and protocols
  • Understanding of Health and Safety regulations

Experience

Essential

  • 3 years post registration experience

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a widely diverse patient catchment area
  • Telephone triage experience
