Sentinel Healthcare are looking for additional skilled and highly motivated nursing support staff to join our small, friendly clinical teams.
Our outpatient and minor surgical clinics take place in modern, well equipped local healthcare settings. Nursing Assistants help to support GP's with Extended Roles (GPwER's) in Dermatology, ENT and Vasectomy outpatient clinics.
This flexible Bank role is ideal for an experienced HCA, RGN or Advanced Paramedic who may wish to fit this role around existing working commitments.
Main duties of the job
Prepare clinical rooms for outpatient and minor surgical clinics, ensuring sufficient stock supplies are available and equipment is fully operational.
Chaperone and assist during examinations and minor surgical procedures and assist in arranging investigations.
Cleaning and sterilisation of clinical equipment during ENT procedures.
Maintain and provide patients with relevant and accessible written information.
Have experience and knowledge of minor surgical equipment and terminology.
Be I.T. literate and able to use the electronic patient record system (EMIS).
Have a flexible approach to work and working patterns.
Offer a friendly welcome to our clinicians and patients and maintain high standards of quality care.
Display empathy and be able to deal with difficult and sensitive situations.
Be willing to develop and undergo further training as required.

Job responsibilities
Provision of support and assistance with Dermatology
and Vasectomy (NHS & Private) minor procedures and ENT outpatient clinics.
Provision of general nursing duties, e.g.
supporting clinician with dressings, equipment, room set up, general cleaning
of clinical areas pre and post procedure.
Maintain and provide patients with relevant and
accessible written information complying with Sentinel polices and procedures
at all times.
Management of medical consumables and equipment required
during procedures. Notifying the Senior Nurse
of stock requirements.
The inputting of information onto the electronic
Patient Administration system (EMIS)
Have
knowledge of surgical equipment
Ensure
that infection control procedures are followed.
The
ongoing cleaning and sterilisation of clinical equipment and working surfaces.
The maintenance of treatment room equipment,
including testing and recording. Notifying
the Operations Manager of faulty equipment.
Working safely at all times in accordance with
Legislative requirements and Sentinel Policy and Procedures.
To
Attend Service Area Clinical Governance and Nurse meetings as required.
Maintain high standards of
quality care to patients and ensure the smooth running of the clinic.
Ensure patients, visitors and staff safety at all times.
Ensure that all areas
conform to Health & Safety and Infection Control requirements and carry out
quarterly audits as requested.
Adhere to Clinic protocols and policies & assist in their periodic
review.
Support the Lead Clinicians
in providing leadership in developing clinical area.
Maintain
clear and accurate patient and medication records.
Maintain close liaison with
the Senior Nurse and Operations Manager to ensure availability of drugs,
consumable supplies and equipment.
Deal effectively with any
clinical aspects of comments/complaints from patients and relatives in
accordance with the Complaints Procedure.
Adhere to the NMC/HPC Code
of Professional Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice/AODP statutory
guidelines in relation to professional practice.
Be responsible for your own
professional development in accordance with NMC/HCPC/AODP guidelines and
maintain a professional portfolio.
Ensure compliance with Sentinel Mandatory Training requirements.
Report immediately to the
Operations Manager any adverse incidents or accidents and to ensure appropriate
documentation is completed.
Ensure all patients are in
receipt of post operative advice and guidance prior to their leaving the clinic.
