Due to our services expanding, this new role is the perfect opportunity for you to join the Tapping House team at such an exciting time.
You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering transport for our patients from their homes to the hospice. We are looking for someone who is organised, empathetic and has a genuine desire to support others.
You will be responsible for managing and coordinating driver volunteers who will be assisting you in your duties.
Salary - £21,600 pa (£27,000 FTE)
Hours - 30 hours over 4 or 5 days
Main duties of the job
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To drive patients to and from the Hospice using hospice vehicles ensuring their safety and comfort
- Risk assess new patient drives
- Coordinate patient transport liaising with the clinical teams to ensure all patient transport requests have been allocated
- To assist in the induction of new volunteer drivers and provide ongoing support and training to the volunteer drivers
- To follow the Highway Code and drive carefully and courteously at all times
- As and when required support the Hospice at Home/ Inpatient unit team with patient transport
- To contact patients and carers to ensure their transport form is up to date and accurate
- To be main contact for hospice transport requests, liaising with clinical teams and volunteer drivers, and ensuring weekly transport plan is circulated
- To carry out vehicle checks ensuring the vehicles are kept clean and readily available. Making sure the relevant checks are performed, including lights, fuel, water and oil levels
- Ensure the Hospice vehicles are taken for necessary annual service and checks to the appointed garage
- Hold regular meetings with the volunteer drivers
- Ensure any patient equipment used e.g wheelchairs are safe and clean for use
OTHER
- Undertake and maintain appropriate training such as manual handling and safeguarding to provide support to patients so that safety is upheld
- Willingness to undertake training and development to fulfil the role
- Participate in the Hospice appraisal system
