The St Barnabas Wellbeing Service provides a range of support to patients, families, carers, and bereaved clients across Lincolnshire. Our services include Spiritual Care, Welfare & Benefits, Counselling & Emotional Support and Bereavement Care.
We have a vacancy for twoWelfare & Benefits Advisersto work as part of the Welfare & Benefits Team across Lincolnshire.
The team provides benefits advice through multi channels (telephone, face to face or written) to people living with a life limiting illnesses, where there maybe also significant barriers to understanding. The Welfare & Benefits team provide an essential service to patients and their families/carers. We are looking for someone to join our team with a passion to making a difference and who is willing to learn the benefit system if no previous experience or knowledge already as full training will be provided.
Duties include identifying any appropriate benefits and helping apply/access benefits and complete applications on a patients/family's behalf.
You will need to be organised, efficient, confident, and able to manage a varied busy caseload. You will work closely with the rest of the Welfare & Benefit Advisers to support patients across the whole of Lincolnshire.
The role is primarily home based but with great support from your team and managers. Occasional travel to one of the commuting bases local to you is required to provide support to patients and support our coffee mornings/groups.

The Welfare & Benefits Team is a friendly, supportive team, and the role is very rewarding.
Qualifications and Experience:
Applications are welcome from candidates who are organised and passionate about helping others. The role is administrative with all work done either written or online so will need to have administrative skills and be able to use computers. We are looking for candidates who are willing to learn the role and the duties of a Welfare & Benefit Adviser. Benefit knowledge or equivalent experience is desirable but for the right candidate full training will be given if no experience previously. You will need to demonstrate your ability to prioritise and manage caseloads and work in a busy environment and work as an integral team member. You will need excellent communication skills and work well with a team, the senior adviser and the line manager to support the service.

Hours: 30 (Monday to Friday). Flexible working hours/days to be discussed at interview.
Starting Salary: £24,794 per annum, pro rata, plus weekend unsocial hours enhancement of 30%
Grade: U
Travel:Home visits/Base Visits & travel is required on an Ad/Hoc basis so transport is essential for this role.
