St Barnabas has been supporting patients and their
families within Lincolnshire for 40 years, delivering high quality compassionate
palliative and end of life care. Our vision is a world where dying with
dignity, compassion and having choices is a fundamental part of life, and to
receive the palliative care when they require or ask for it. In order to
achieve this, St Barnabas has a passionate dynamic multidisciplinary team, and
now have a vacancy for an empathetic, forward thinking, flexible physiotherapist
to join the south east team.
The very rewarding and enriching role of working as a physiotherapist
here at St Barnabas, will give you the opportunity to work in the community and
the wellbeing hubs, as part of the community services team. You will work
alongside other allied health professionals, and the wider MDT, to advocate and
deliver palliative rehabilitation to patients with complex symptoms.
Main duties of the job
You will have a vital role in supporting our patients to
achieve their goals, and support symptom management including complex symptoms
such as metastatic cord compression. You will work holistically, bringing knowledge from your previous experience.
We welcome applications from those who are new to the palliative care role.
There is an expectation that you will run and manage
groups as well as one to one clinic appointments and community home visits. You will also have a keen interest in
developing the service for the future, and address some of the palliative rehab
needs of the local community. There
is also opportunity for you to expand your CPD, and educational opportunities
with relevant palliative care interests.
Working flexibly to the service needs is essential due to
the geography we cover, and people we support. Previous palliative care
experience is desirable but not essential, and we welcome applications from those willing to develop
in this rewarding field of care. You will be expected, with the support of the
MDT to complete holistic assessments as the physiotherapist for your patients,
which could include palliative emergencies, complex moving and handling,
education, leading on the patients care, pain management, exercise programs,
breathlessness management, and joint working with other services as some
examples.
