We are looking for a dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly general practice teams at Allied Medical Practice and Ship Street Surgery.In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the nursing team to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care to our patients.You will assist with clinical duties such as health checks, wound care, vaccinations, and phlebotomy, while also contributing to health promotion, infection control, and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake clinical activities including ECGs, phlebotomy, wound care, and health checks.
  • Administer vaccinations (flu, shingles, B12, pneumococcal) and provide first aid when required.
  • Support annual health promotion activities (e.g., QOF/DES/LES/IIF for diabetes and COPD).
  • Process samples and maintain accurate patient records using clinical templates.
  • Monitor and maintain infection control standards, including fridge temperature checks and COSHH compliance.
  • Manage stock rotation and ordering of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and colleagues, adapting to different needs and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ensure adherence to practice policies and procedures, safeguarding, and health and safety requirements.

  • Previous experience in general practice or healthcare setting
  • IT literacy and ability to use clinical systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage own workload and work to protocols

Hours Available 37.5 hours Full time Monday to Friday 8:30am-5pm
