As an Urgent Care Practitioner, youll be expected to assess all patients and provide the right management or referral. Youll have to be reliable and dependable, passionate and committed to delivering high quality health care in an out-of-hours (OOH) environment.

If you have extended assessment and minor illness skills and would like to join our professional team as an Urgent Care Practitioner (UCP), then we would love to hear from you. As we provide an OOH service, you must be willing to work evenings and weekends.

Main duties of the job

The IUC CAS service is a telephone based service located in our Call Centres in Ashford, Norfolk and Essex. You will be part of the multidisciplinary team which includes GPs; ACPs, UCPs and Prescribing Pharmacists. The CAS team works collaboratively with 111 service, home visiting service and Primary Care Centre services of the IUC in conjunction with other urgent and emergency care services such as the ambulance service. Patients will get referred to you via NHS 111, where you will be expected to use your clinical expertise to treat, advise or refer them on to the most appropriate service with the aim of safely completing a high proportion of your calls at the telephone assessment stage. As part of the IUC model, you will also deliver face to face consultations from a designated Primary Care Centre when required.

Due to the nature of this position, employment is subject to proof of eligibility to work in the UK, a full manual driving licence, completion of a satisfactory enhanced DBS check and 2 references.

Hours Available:- Flexible shifts, including evenings, overnights and weekends, minimum 12 hrs per week .

  • Regulated Health Care Professional with existing registration. Educated to degree level or equivalent. Have or be working towards masters module in Advanced Clinical Assessment and Management. In depth knowledge of and consolidated clinical practice in a specialist clinical area. Experience of working in a multiprofessional/multi-agency environment.

Desirable

  • Supervision/mentoring training or qualification. Leadership/management training or qualification. Previous experience of supporting or managing change and experience working remote consultation.
