Job summary

The Therapy team at Arthur Rank Hospice Charity provides specialist palliative care to patients across our hospice services, including our in-patient unit, Specialist Palliative Care team and the Living Well Service.

We have an opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join this team working 24 hours per week, we can discuss working hours and patterns at interview.

Main duties of the job

The role will work closely with Physiotherapy colleagues to provide care, focussing on fatigue management, anxiety management and breathlessness management.

  • To deliver a high standard of Occupational Therapy services to patients referred for Specialist Palliative Care.
  • To plan and deliver those services in partnership with multi-disciplinary team colleagues on the in-patient unit, outpatients, living well service and with patients living in the community, to achieve/ maintain quality of life regardless of diagnosis and prognosis.
  • To maintain associated records in accordance with HCPC and RCOT guidelines.
  • To actively participate in improving the service and in collaboration with the line manager, support future developments. These will include involvement in clinical audit, education and research programmes within the organisation.

Successful candidates must be HCPC registered with a diploma / degree in Occupational Therapy, along with knowledge and experience of providing palliative care to patients.

Due to the nature of the role it's a requirement to hold a UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
