This role is part of our Solent Cluster which consists of units in Southampton, Basingstoke and Portsmouth. You will be required to work at all 3 units - mileage is paid.
Please note we are relocating our Southampton unit. The new location will still be based in Southampton. More will be discussed at interview.

We are looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the clinical teams in our Solent Cluster working 27 hours per week over Monday to Thursday.
About the role:
As a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner you will provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception & vasectomy. You'll be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment & will work in all areas of the unit including theatre & recovery. This role will involve providing treatment & clinical information to clients both in person & over the phone.
About You
You will be a Registered Adult Nurse Level 1 or Midwife (practising) with active NMC registration and PIN. You will have clinical practice experience of at least 12 months & have a keen interest in sexual health and reproductive healthcare. Clinical knowledge and experience of safeguarding and Fraser/Gillick competencies are essential for this role.
Main duties of the job
- You will work in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice & the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967 & Health & Social Care Act as well as BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the client
understands her options in relation to the pregnancy &, if choosing
termination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act.
- Provide information
on STI Testing, undertake tests and provide results and also discuss, inform
and confirm the clients future choice of contraception.
- Carefully check for
and implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, including
administering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervical
preparation.
- Carry out post
treatment check-ups by assessing the physical condition of the client and
discussing any concerns
- Complete relevant
paperwork and in the event of post treatment problems, make arrangements with
the clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.
- To care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments. This
could include general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.

- Sound & accurate
administrative competence with attention to detail
- Gynecological nursing experience or relevant specialty i.e., sexual
health, contraception
- Venepuncture / cannulation
skills

Salary: £36,938 - £44,625 per annum (this will be pro rata for 27hrs) - depending on skills and experience
Shift Pattern: 27 hours per week
- Monday & Tuesday 08:30 - 16:30 - Southampton
- Wednesday 09:00 - 15:00 - Basingstoke
- Thursday 08:30 - 14:30 - Portsmouth
Locations:
One unit will be classed as your base unit with mileage paid to the other 2 as per the BPAS expenses policy.
