At BPAS, we have an exciting part-time opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the theatre team in our unit in Richmond, London, working 7.5 hours per
week every Saturday.
We are looking for someone who by working alongside our Nurses & Midwives will be able provide the best care to our patients.
As a HCA, you will be required to assist with the care, support and observations of the client before & after treatment, and report findings to the Registered Practitioners. You will help check and prepare the operating department environment and equipment prior to use, between clients and at the end of a list.
About You
You will have experience working in healthcare especially in a hospital, GP practice or operating theatre setting. With a positive can do attitude you will enjoy working as a part of a team and be passionate about helping and caring for others.
Candidates will need to be comfortable with terminations of pregnancy and seeing this procedure in theatre.
Main duties of the job
- To assist with the care, support and observations of the client before and after treatment, report findings to the Registered Practitioners
- To assist in the preparation and serving of refreshments
- Help check and prepare the operating department environment and equipment prior to use, between clients and at the end of a list
- Undertake counts of swabs, instruments and needles in conjunction with another trained member of the surgical team, and assist the surgical team during surgical procedures
- To have an understanding of clients' individual needs and to maintain a helpful, courteous approach to clients, visitors and colleagues
We are also looking for:
- Care certificate in healthcare / NVQ Level 3 in health and social care / Diploma in health and support level 3
- Positive attitude to change
- Willingness to learn
- IT skills

Salary: £29,417 - £34,644 - Depending on skills and experience. This will be pro rata for part-time hours and includes OLW. (£15.08 - £17.76 p/h) - we also pay time and half for all Saturday shifts.
