BPAS are looking for a Service Manager (we call them Treatment Unit Managers here!) to lead our reproductive health services in our unit in Birmingham South.
It doesn't matter if you have a commercial, corporate, or clinical background, you will be able to use your leadership and management skills to ensure BPAS reproductive healthcare services are delivered effectively.
This is a permanent full time role working 36 hours per week - Monday to Friday at the Birmingham unit. Salary is £42,073 to £50,871 per annum depending on skills and experience.
About the role:
You will be responsible for ensuring the provision of a responsive termination of pregnancy service that is high quality and client-focused by motivating, engaging, and managing clinical and non-clinical staff effectively. The Birmingham unit includes a surgical termination service under conscious sedation as well as a vasectomy list. You will actively manage capacity by utilising your team to ensure appointment templates are aligned to facilitate this.
As the service manager you will also maintain positive relationships with our external stakeholders including local commissioners and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) ensuring the unit is managed in line with regulatory requirements.
Main duties of the job
- Ensure the delivery of a client-focused, caring, and professional standard of treatment to defined BPAS quality standards.
- To ensure the delivery of an efficient and compliant surgical service including late gestations.
Participate in the development of annual budgets and monitor and control unit expenditure in line with agreed budgets in order to maximise unit contribution to BPAS finances.
- Liaise with other units, managers and the BIC to ensure the best use of appointments and session times.
- To work with the Business Development team to secure contracts and maintain business advantage.
- Demonstrate compliance with CQC regulatory requirements and host inspections from any regulatory bodies.
About You:
As an experienced people manager, you will relish leading a team where you will strive for excellence at all times. You will be able to encourage the development of your colleagues and you will offer support and coaching when needed. Being able to set clear objectives and targets for your team is key and you will enjoy working with them to deliver on these consistently.
With the ability to remain calm under pressure whilst juggling multiple priorities you will be resilient and tenacious to cope with a busy work environment where no two days are the same. You will have an eye for detail and bring the ability to forecast ahead and plan resources around future service demands. Your key strengths include problem solving, time management, negotiation, and leadership skills.
