Job summary

We are recruiting SHCAs to our expanding Hospice at Home team for us to be able to provide care for more patients and those closest to them. The SHCA night post involves supporting patients and those closest to them in their own homes. Starting at 22.00hrs and remaining with the patient until 07.00hrs. You will be fully supported by the Hospice at Home sister on duty.

Main duties of the job

Whilst our focus is the patient who wishes to die at home, we provide support and advice to the whole family, giving an opportunity to deliver holistic care to the whole household. You would be responsible for monitoring symptoms, providing personal care and emotional support with the knowledge that you have assistance available at all times. The successful candidates would need to have significant experience in caring and have a QCF/NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or the equivalent and be passionate about providing good quality palliative care to people in their own homes. They would need to have excellent communication skills, work well on their own but also work within a very supportive team. We cover a large geographical area so a current driving license and access to a car is essential. The postholders would be working shifts to cover 7 days a week. You will be driven by our cause and will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment as part of a close team to deliver on our strategy takes real teamwork, energy and passion, no two days are ever the same!
