Job summary
As a registered charity our services are provided free of charge, with 70%
of our funding provided by voluntary donations, gifts and wider activities
where our Fundraising and Retail teams have strong connections and
participation with the local community..
Main duties of the job
To deliver
comprehensive social work support to patients, their carers and family members,
mostly in the community, with some involvement on the inpatient unit, and in
close collaboration with psychosocial colleagues.
To hold particular
responsibility for the further development of carer support at the hospice, in
close collaboration with multi-disciplinary colleagues, including carer
engagement in the development of the support
To be
accountable for ensuring own practice meets minimum national standards and is
compliant with the social work Code of Conduct.

The Role:

This role for a social worker primarily based in the community involves providing a broad range of interventions in response to the often complex psychological and social needs of patients and families. Close liaison with the broader multi-disciplinary team will be essential. You will need to have excellent social work skills and have clear insight into the social and psychological impact of advanced disease, death and bereavement.
One area of particular responsibility will be the further development of carer support at the hospice, taking the lead in raising awareness regarding carer need amongst the wider team, setting up group support and ensuring dedicated information resources are available. Close collaboration with local partners dedicated to carer support will be key.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and confident social worker with relevant post qualification experience to complement our well established psycho-social team. This is a rewarding and exciting role with regular line management supervision and opportunities for professional development.
