Job summary
We are currently looking for a SpecialistDietitian who will play a key role as we embark on an exciting programme to transform and improve the outcome of people recently diagnosed with cancer. The charity will be delivering a rehabilitation programme from our new Yorkshire Cancer Research Centre at Hornbeam Park. The programme will help people with cancer prepare for and recover from treatment quickly and maintain healthy lifestyles after their cancer diagnosis.
Reporting to the Head of Services, as our Specialist Dietitian, you will initially lead the development of the dietetic service offered as part of our new programme. Once the service is established, you will be responsible for leading on the delivery of the dietetic service for adults with a cancer diagnosis by working collaboratively to deliver a multidisciplinary, inclusive and responsive service, ensuring customer service excellence and responding to service user diversity.
Main duties of the job
Specifically, you will:
- Lead the development of the dietetic service offered as part of the prehabilitation and rehabilitation programme being delivered from the Yorkshire Cancer Research Centre by attending and contributing to multi-disciplinary team meetings and working groups, leading them as required, and contributing to the delivery of the wider rehabilitation programme.
- Support the development and operation of administrative systems relevant to the service for data collection and record keeping relevant for the dietetic service.
- Support the charity's vision within the Yorkshire Cancer Research Centre to create a healthy food environment for staff and visitors.
- Lead the provision of a high quality, evidence-based dietetic service to adults with a cancer diagnosis using a high level of skills and knowledge as an independent practitioner.
- Lead on dietetic assessments and determine dietetic requirements of service users taking into account medical, biochemical, social, cultural, and psychological factors.
- Use appropriate and suitable skills to establish rapport and a person-centred relationship in order to identify barriers to understanding and implications for change for service users.
- Use empathic, motivational, negotiating and cognitive behavioural management skills to support in formulating a plan to establish and maintain change that is relevant and suitable for the service user.
