Registered Nurse or Physiotherapist to train in Lymphoedema Services
This job is now closed
Job summary
Are you a Nurse or Physiotherapist who would like to develop in their career path while providing holistic person-centred care driven by What Matters to patients?
If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to develop your learning, practice, management and ultimately leadership skills by joining our Lymphoedema Service team.
The Lymphoedema Service covers Bournemouth and surrounding areas including West Hampshire. We care for patients, newly diagnosed with a number of cancers who have swelling that is problematic because of the extent of their disease or because they have had necessary treatments that have made the swelling worse. We also see patients who are further along their cancer journey who are Palliative and we provide Home visits where needed.
Main duties of the job
Due to our continued expansion, we now seek a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional to join us. This is a development role to become part of a small multi-disciplinary team providing specialist care to patients who have developed or have the potential to develop lymphoedema due to cancer and/or its treatments. This role could ultimately progress to leading the Service when the existing Lead retires over the next few years.
We are looking for a first Level Registered Nurse or an individual who holds an Allied Health Professional Qualification with at least 3 years experience.
The successful candidate will have good experience of managing their own caseload and display excellent communication skills with patients and significant others. You will have experience of caring for patients with all types of disease and be aware of treatments available to Oncology patients together with awareness of the Gold Standards Framework and Mental Capacity Act.
You will be a team player and have the ability to assess, plan and implement individual holistic care for patients.
A working knowledge of Secondary lymphoedema and Cancer Care would be an advantage but is not essential. Desirable knowledge and skills include the ability to provide advice to other healthcare professionals and have a proven background in research awareness and implementation.
The ability to travel within the local area and to attend training courses further afield is necessary.
