Phlebotomist - General Practice

Job summary

Wellington Road Family Practice (WRFP) is seeking to appoint a part time Phlebotomist to join our fantastic family practice, based in Yate, South Gloucestershire. Cadbury Heath Healthcare Partnership is responsible for WRFP and Cadbury Heath Healthcare, both practices operate independently.

Reporting to the Nurse Manager and as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, the post holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture, as requested by the clinical team, to the entitled patient population.In addition, the Phlebotomist will be expected to support the nursing team on an as required basis.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include:

• Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
• Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
• Maintaining accurate patient records on EMIS
• The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples
• Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
• Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters
