Job summary

You will be working as part of the Facilities Team at the hospice that covers the Site Technicians, Housekeepers and Catering staff. The Facilities Team are responsible for the maintenance, cleaning, catering and H+S of this site as well as the Site Technicians being responsible for minor maintenance at all our retails outlets within Essex and Hertfordshire

Your role will involve deep cleaning of all patient rooms within the In Patient Unit as well cleaning in offices, kitchens, bathrooms, toilets and meeting rooms.

Fixed Term contract for 6 Months.14 hours per week, to be worked flexibly across 7 days (Monday Sunday) .

Main duties of the job

To be welcoming and caring to all who come to St. Clare Hospice Centre.

To respect the needs of patients and visitors for privacy and support.

To clean all floors, fittings and surfaces, including the cleaning of wash hand basins, sinks, toilets and fittings in the designated work area, in accordance to standards set by the Care Quality Commission.

To ensure paper hand towels, toilet roll, liquid soap and alcohol rub dispensers are fully stocked at all times.

To empty all waste bins and clinical waste bins daily being careful to observe health and safety policy and infection control policy.

To document cleaning activities for audit purposes.

To clean domestic equipment and keep domestic equipment storage cupboard clean and tidy, and report any equipment failures to the Facilities Manager.

To maintain adequate supplies of cleaning materials and equipment and report any shortages to the Facilities Manager.

To work together with the St Clare staff and volunteers to keep the Hospice tidy and welcoming

To liaise with the other Housekeepers to plan their work and attendance rota to ensure cover is maintained at all times

To cover for colleagues as and when required

To fulfil other duties as required.

To work weekends and bank holidays as required

  • Understanding of cleaning equipment
