Main duties of the job

To assist with the St Clare Hospice Trading Company house clearance service by driving the van, moving and handling furniture and homewares, removal of waste, and sorting goods within our warehouse.

To raise the profile of St Clare Hospice in the local community through excellent customer relations, upholding our values and being polite and courteous at all times.

About us

At St Clare Hospice our vision is that every adult with a life limiting condition in our local communities should have access to palliative care services wherever and whenever they need them, so that they can make the most of every moment, no matter how long they have left to live. Our many different services provide patients, their families and carers, with physical, emotional, social, psychological and spiritual support, at home, or here at the Hospice.

St Clare is an independent charity with most of the costs of our services met through donations and voluntary funding. It costs over £6m a year to run all our hospice services and we receive limited NHS funding, so the income generation directorate is responsible for fundraising most of this. Individuals, schools, community groups, businesses, events, grant-making trusts and foundations and our nine shops and our E-commerce business help us to raise the money to keep going.

This role is part of our new House Clearance operation, raising funds to support the hospice. It is customer facing and requires strong people skills, as well as being a manual role requiring an appropriate level of fitness. The role is managed by the House Clearance team, and works closely with the retail team.
