Job summary

To lead and coordinate the organisation’s operational risk management, compliance and assurance processes, ensuring risks are identified, managed and reported effectively and that the organisation meets relevant regulatory, contractual and statutory requirements.

The role provides practical oversight and operational management of risk and compliance systems, supporting leaders across the organisation to maintain safe, accountable and well-governed services.

The postholder will work closely with the Assistant Director of Governance, Risk and Assurance to strengthen organisational oversight and support effective Board and executive assurance.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties

Compliance & Regulatory Compliance

Support the organisation to maintain compliance with relevant statutory, regulatory and contractual requirements.

Monitor compliance against key regulatory standards and contractual obligations.

Support preparation for external inspections, audits and reviews where required.

Assist with the coordination of organisational responses to regulatory enquiries or compliance requirements.

Ensure compliance frameworks are embedded within operational processes and service delivery.

Monitor changes in the regulatory or policy environment and advise relevant teams of potential implications

Incident, Data and Assurance Systems

Support the effective operation of organisational systems relating to incidents, data breaches/ concerns, complaints and subject access requests.

Monitor incident trends and themes, identifying opportunities for learning and improvement.

Ensure appropriate processes are in place for recording, investigating and responding to incidents and complaints.

Work with operational leaders to ensure learning from incidents is embedded within service delivery.

Provide compliance reporting on safeguarding, incidents and compliance activity

Ensure clear data retention and deletion schedules are in place and followed, in line with information governance, data protection requirements and organisational policy 

Policy and Governance Support

Support the maintenance and review of the organisational policy framework.

Ensure policies remain current, accessible and aligned with regulatory requirements.

Ensure policy templates, governance documentation and supporting materials remain consistent, accessible and reflective of Northpoint’s organisational tone, values and communication standards

Coordinate policy review cycles and ensure appropriate governance oversight.

Support organisational governance structures by preparing risk and compliance reports for relevant governance forums

Risk Management

Support the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of Northpoint’s organisational risk management framework.

Maintain the corporate risk register, ensuring risks are accurately recorded, assessed and monitored.

Support teams to identify, assess and manage operational, clinical and organisational risks.

Ensure clear escalation processes for significant risks to senior leadership and governance forums.

Provide guidance and training to managers and teams on risk identification, risk assessment and mitigation planning.

Monitor emerging risks across the organisation and support the development of mitigation strategies.

Support the production of risk reports and analysis for senior leadership, governance groups and Board committees.
