Main duties of the job

We have a unique opportunity for a Trainee Senior Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) to join Northpoint. This role will involve working across Calderdale to support low intensity clinical supervision to a number of Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs), as well as holding your own caseload.

Job responsibilities

What you will be doing as our Senior Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner:

Day to day, you can expect to be supporting school settings to develop their understanding of the MHST and EMHP role. You will hold your own caseload, providing direct support to students, pupils and families at a higher level of need than EMHP support and/or working alongside EMHPs as necessary.

This role involves providing caseload management supervision and clinical skills support to EMHPs, including those currently in training at university. There may also be an opportunity to undertake a low intensity supervision course if not yet qualified as a supervisor. Collaboration is a key aspect, with regular engagement alongside other mental health teams in Northpoint and across wider Calderdale services.

What are we looking for in our ideal Senior Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioner:

  • Children and Young Peoples Mental Health CYP/CYWP or PGDip Education Mental Health Practitioner
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Two or more years post qualification experience within a children and young peoples educational or mental health setting, with children and young people with mental health difficulties and their families.
  • Evidence of delivering low intensity CBT
  • Evidence of continued professional development
