Job summary

Purpose of the role:

To oversee the Calderdale Open Minds CAMHS neurodevelopment referral pathway

To determine clinical suitability for neurodevelopmental assessments

To lead on service development, transformation and continuous improvement

Support related initiatives, including SEND and Inclusion

Supervise and support Open Minds CAMHS staff around neuro-related issues

To carry out clinical assessments of need where appropriate

Although Northpoint are not commissioned to provide diagnostic assessments, the postholder will have discretion and flexibility to meet with face-to-face with young people/families in order to better determine suitability for autism or ADHD assessment and to assess for other potential presentations.

 

Main duties of the job

Duties and responsibilities:

Manage and hold oversight of the neurodevelopmental referral pathway and processes

Identify and action risk, vulnerability, and safeguarding concerns effectively

Help to ensure referrals are processed and families are contacted in a timely manner

Assess and provide evidence based clinical suitability decisions to progress referrals for neuro assessment or signpost/advise appropriately where suitability for assessment is not indicated

Manage and allocate workflow across a team of personnel

Manage a caseload and respond to concerns and complaints in line with policy

Support with data and impact monitoring

Quality assure service delivery, ensuring accurate information recording on relevant systems

Contribute to the development of progressive policies and procedures across the service

Attend and chair internal and external meetings as required

Represent Northpoint/Open Minds (CAMHS) at local and regional forums

Deputise in the absence of the Service Manager and the clinical pathway navigators

About us

Northpoint have been commissioned by the NHS to deliver part of the innovative and forward-looking Open Minds (CAMHS) since 2014. We co-deliver the service with South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust (SWYT). Northpoint’s element of the service includes the First Point of Contact which is the single point of contact for all mental health and neurodevelopmental referrals for children and young people in Calderdale.

Northpoint also provides the Mental Health Support Team in schools, and the Thrive-informed Getting Help therapeutic service. In addition, we act as lead provider for 3 VCSE organisations in order to facilitate partnership working and ensure joined up referral pathways.

In collaboration with commissioners, partners, families and other stakeholders, Northpoint has made significant developments to the neurodevelopmental referral process in order to meet increasing levels of demand and changing need. We have embraced digital technology and adapted our staffing model to ensure we are able to provide children, young people, families and professionals with a timely and helpful response to their requests for support.

Northpoint has established a reputation as a trailblazer in our work to offer informed Patient Choice of assessment provider via the Right to Choose  Choice process, as well as piloting digital guided self-help offers such as Silvercloud which can be accessed with minimal waits and without diagnosis.

We are seeking an experienced clinician to oversee the CYP autism and ADHD referral pathway and to support future developments as we engage in wider system transformation and strive for continuous improvement and quality.

  • To determine clinical suitability for neurodevelopmental assessments

  • Educated to degree level with a relevant professional qualification: Occupational Therapist. Speech and Language Therapist, Children's Nurse, Learning disability nurse, Mental Health Nurse, Clinical Psychologist, Social Worker or similar.
  • Registered and or accredited with a relevant professional body.

Desirable

  • A relevant Masters level qualification or equivalent
  • Further studies , training or research in autism and or ADHD
