Join us as an Assistant Service Manager (ASM) at the St Albans Integrated Urgent Care Hub!
About the Role:
As the ASM, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our urgent care services while driving continuous improvement and integration.
Reporting directly to the Head of Primary and Urgent Care, you'll lead clinical staff, meet contractual KPIs, and proactively address operational challenges to maintain safe, efficient services.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead local service delivery, ensuring quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to identify development objectives and drive improvement plans.
- Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
- Support clinical leads in delivering quality improvement actions.
The ideal candidate will be:
- A skilled manager with a degree or equivalent experience and formal management training, plus 12+ months in a senior role within Primary Care, ICB, or related fields.
- Proven abilities in financial management, budget control, staff leadership, and implementing systems across teams.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills, with commitment to reducing health inequalities and engaging diverse communities.
- Project management training, QI methodology, and data protection expertise

- Educated to degree level or equivalent significant experience
- Formal Management Qualification or equivalent significant experience
- Minimum of 12 months experience in a senior role working within Primary Care, ICB, or similar transferable skills
- Clear evidence of managing financial accounts procedure and budget control
- Experience of working urgent care clinical systems
- Experience of developing and implementing common systems and processes across teams and across service boundaries
- Experience of facilitating and managing change
- Experience in managing and leading staff

- Hold a management qualification appropriate to the post.
