Job summary

An excellent and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse or health professional to join the HUC safeguarding team on a temporary 12 months fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. This is a primarily remote role with occasional visits to HUC sites.

HUC is an NHS service provider that specialises in both primary care service and Intergraded Urgent Care, providing high quality, fair and sustainable health care to the large and expanding community we serve.

The post holder will be an integral member of the Safeguarding Team supporting with the arrangements for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and their families and Vulnerable adults across the HUC enterprise .This will include the provision of expert advice and support to staff to promote good professional practice in safeguarding adult and children and the delivery of supervision and training to all levels of staff across HUC. In collaboration with the Head of Safeguarding the post holder will contribute to the development and review of policies and procedures and take part in audit and other initiatives.

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, has effective organisational skills and excellent communication skills, confident with supporting staff from a wide variety of professional backgrounds.

Main duties of the job

Principle Responsibilities will Include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide visible leadership and role modelling in relation to organisational culture, to ensure it is open, honest, just and focused on continued learning and improvement in relation to safeguarding practices
  • Be visible and accessible with an approachable presence; to support, motivate and inspire staff
  • Support workflows to ensure robust, effective, and successful annual Section 11 Audit in relation to safeguarding children
  • Support all staff, with a focus on HUCs non-clinical workforce and Safeguarding Champions in relation to:
    • Training
    • Supervision
    • Internal standards and requirements
  • Support the development and implementation of safeguarding related polices
  • Support the assurance and overview of safeguarding referrals to ensure appropriateness and quality, safe receipt and any requests for further information and collaborative working to ensure safety and appropriate information sharing

o Serious Incident or other Quality alert investigations as required

Support the implementation of recommendations from internal and external safeguarding reviews

Support services and provide assurance that standards are being achieved or that actions are completed where issues are highlighted across the organisation

Support the development and delivery of training in relation to safeguarding

Provide formal, regular, structured, and ad hoc child safeguarding supervision to all staff

Communicate effectively with patients and their carers/families

Collate gap analysis and benchmarking data against national standards, reports, and policies in relation to child safeguarding

Maintain accurate records

Work autonomously to achieve delivery of work to very high standards of written work and interpersonal communication, and work with minimal supervision and guidance

Demonstrate leadership and ownership of your role, responsibilities, and accountabilities

Maintain own continuing professional development and knowledge of relative legislation, standards, and guidance.

To comply with mandatory and statutory training requirements

Access to role related courses to support development

Opportunities to learn and gain experience and specialist knowledge within the wider clinical quality and governance structure
