As aHealthcare Assistant, with proven healthcare experience in an acute or community environment, you will assist with the delivery of patient care. Providing support to health care professionals within a multi-disciplinary team, working under the supervision of the clinician and within the group parameters of practice.

Main duties of the job

As someone who canwork with autonomy, you will apply your skills and knowledge to the following clinical areas of responsibilities:

  • Chaperoning duties
  • ECG recording
  • Phlebotomy
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
  • Medical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
  • Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms

Shift Pattern

  • Week 1 - Tuesday09:00 -17:00, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday 10:00-18:00
  • Week 2 -Tuesday09:00 -17:00, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday 10:00-18:00

Job responsibilities

Overall Purpose of the Role: To assist with the delivery of patient care and to provide support to health care professionals within a multi-disciplinary team, under the supervision of the clinician and within the group parameters of practice. Principle Responsibilities will Include:

ECG recording

Chaperoning duties

Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording

Medical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation

Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms

Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions

Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being

Ensuring that stores are available, re-ordered and restocked appropriately

Repeating basic observations on patients in the UCC waiting room and reporting any abnormal observations to the Nurse in Charge.

Checking BLS equipment on a weekly basis and restocking when required.

Receiving all visitors of the urgent care centre, directing them as appropriate and acting as a focal point for enquiries

To support patients to make appointments with own GP practice when appropriate

To support non-registered patients to register with a GP locally

Assisting the Urgent Treatment Centre to achieve both local and national agreed targets

Supporting the Urgent Treatment Centre in the reduction of patients presenting at emergency department

Reviewing and updating reception information as required for the benefit of the public and staff

To assist in ensuring that Health & Safety policies and procedures are followed within the urgent care setting

Responsible for Fire Co-ordinator duties in the clinic/department as per fire procedures.

To assist in keeping the reception/waiting room area tidy at the end of each day

Supporting the team to help implement new systems and procedures within the clinic/department.

To work in co-operation with all administrative staff within the hospital to encourage teamwork to support and help each other to maintain a smooth running, professional service to the public and professional staff.

Oversight of the medical equipment used at the Urgent Treatment Centre, eg arranging replacements and calibration

Demonstrate basic life support skills after training

Training and Development:

Full training will be given to support the development of this role this will include an apprenticeship

Participation in HUCs performance review and appraisal process

Compliance with mandatory and statutory training requirements
