We have an exciting opportunity for an
enthusiastic registered nurse with experience in general nursing, combined with
previous experience in clinical consultation environment to work within our new
Travel vaccination Service
Main duties of the job
The Travel Health Nurse will be a source of advice for health professionals across the organisation on all aspects of immunisation policy & practice & be expected to develop & maintain up-to date, specialised knowlegde of immunisation
The post holder will be involved in the training of other healthcare staff involved in Travel Vaccinations
To provide expert travel vaccination advice & support
Have extensive knowledge & experience of working within travel vaccination delivery & process a good understanding of vaccinations & diseases
Provide travel health risk assessments & advice to patients both in the travel clinic & telephone
Carry out risk assessments & administer relevant immunisations, anti-malarial prophylaxis, & other medicines in line with Patient Group Directions
Ordering vaccines, following cold chain protocols & ensuring all stock is within expiry dates
Maintain accurate medical records utilising EMIS system & ensure there is always patient confidentiality
Implement company policies & procedures
Work within guidelines to ensure smooth running of the clinic
Works well with others & responds positively to instructions & procedures
Communicates effectively with members of the public & colleagues & share critical information with others in the multidisciplinary team
Personal experience of travel & an interest in travel medicine is beneficial
Experience in clinical consultation & vaccine administration
Demonstrates openness, honesty & listens well during meetings & feedback sessions
