Job summary
As the Inpatient Unit Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day running of our 15-bed unit, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and holistic care to patients and their families. This is a pivotal leadership role, combining clinical excellence with people management, service development, and multidisciplinary team collaboration.
Main duties of the job
To have responsibility for the provision of specialist palliative nursing
services to meet the individual needs of patients on the IPU, ensuring that
care is safe, effective, responsive, caring and well-led.
The post holder carries 24 hour continuing responsibility for the coordination and monitoring of all clinical activities within the IPU.
To deliver direct patient care whilst, managing, leading, co-ordinating and
overseeing nursing practice.
Create and promote a learning culture within the IPU to support the
professional growth and development of all nursing staff, students and
members of the multidisciplinary teams.
The post holder will be expected to take a lead on bed management,
coordinating admission and transfers of patients from and to the unit to
maintain good patients flow.
Support the development of nursing skills in all aspects of the role
providing expert clinical knowledge and specialised advice.
Be accountable for coordinating patient care, management of resources
and performance of staff.
Be responsible for the implementation of audit, quality, and risk
management.
To lead the management of infection control for the Inpatient Unit.
Provide assurances to the IPU Matron/ Head of Clinical Governance that
there is continuous improvement in the delivery of clinical services within
IPU and are tailored to the needs of patients
