Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join us at St Peters Hospice as our Infection Prevention and Control Lead.

The successful candidate will sit within our dynamic Clinical Quality Improvement Team, who are committed to ensuring safe, high-quality care within our clinical services.

The post holder will work collaboratively within all clinical teams and senior managers. The successful candidate will need to be proactive, adaptable and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have a strong ability to manage change.

You will be required to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

Due to the nature of the work involved, this role is exempt from the ROA and the jobholder will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service Check.

What we can offer you:

  • Band 7 equivalent salary from £44,100 up to £50,566(FTE) per annum, dependant on experience
  • Working 30 hours per week (core office hours) over a 4 day period

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities:

  • Leadership and management of Infection Control within St Peters Hospice Clinical Teams
  • Develop and implement the Infection Prevention and Control agenda.

To be responsible for the leadership and management of Infection Control with the support of the Quality Lead within St Peters Hospice. Develop and implement the Infection Prevention and Control agenda, ensuring that SPH is compliant with all local and national legislation relating to Infection Prevention and Control. This will include the provision of education, advice and support on the surveillance, investigation and prevention and control within St Peters Hospice. They will act as a professional role model providing leadership and specialist advice.

Leadership and Management (KSF3)

  • Act as a key role model in the clinical quality and Infection, Prevention and Control agenda.

  • Work collaboratively with the CQI team to provide in depth oversight and thematic to identify areas for action or work from the Quality metrics in relation to IPC to promote a safe high-quality clinical service and report and share as per process.
  • Work with the CQI team to identify areas for development or risk and develop action plans, monitor their progress and participate and lead where appropriate.
  • Act when there are new or continuous risk associated with Infection, Prevention and Control in the organisation.
  • Use a myriad of different skills and approaches in order to communicate with the organisation the results of the data collected, what this means and how practice improvement is identified, planned and delivered.
  • Understand own role, its scope and understand how it may change and develop over time
