We are expanding our services and need a brilliant people manager to join us at the Heysham CDC to continue the fantastic work already ongoing keep pushing improvements forward for our patients. You will lead the day-to-day running of our Bay Lymphology service keeping operations slick, teams supported, and standards rock-solid. You will be the go-to for rotas, people leadership and CQC-ready governance, enabling clinicians to deliver outstanding care.

Main duties of the job

What youll lead

  • Service operations: schedules, staffing, workflow and continuous improvement.

  • People management: line-manage admin/ops staff and embed effective clinical supervision with senior clinicians.

  • Compliance & quality: CQC, safeguarding, GDPR and infection prevention & control; audits, incidents and actions.

  • Resources & relationships: budget awareness, equipment, and stakeholder engagement across partners and patient groups.

About us

Bay Lymphology is a close-knit team of dedicated nurse specialists and assistant lymphoedema practitioners, based in the charming town of Kendal, Cumbria. As a specialist outpatient service, we are open Monday to Friday from 09:00-17:00, accepting referrals from both primary and secondary care. Our main clinic, located in the heart of Kendal, is equipped with the latest technologies, including photo- biomodulation therapy, Kinesio taping, negative suction therapy, and intermittent pneumatic compression therapy.

At Bay Lymphology, we believe that early intervention is crucial to effective lymphoedema management. Our service offers a high standard of care, providing expert lymphoedema management, advice, and information aimed at preventing swelling, reducing progression and complications, and empowering patients to self-manage their condition.

Job Purpose

To provide leadership and managerial oversight to the Bay Lymphology Service, focusing on service delivery standards, workforce management, and compliance, while supporting clinical teams to deliver high-quality patient care in line with regulatory and organisational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Service Leadership & Management

Lead, coordinate, and optimise the delivery of service operations, ensuring efficiency, accessibility, and adherence to best practice and organisational standards.

Act as the primary point of contact for operational and scheduling matters, reviewing and improving rotas, staffing allocations, and workflow processes.

Support implementation of service developments, new initiatives, and change management activities within the lymphoedema pathway.

People Management

Provide supervision and line management to administrative and operational staff, overseeing recruitment, induction, performance review, and professional development.

Ensure processes are in place to embed and monitor effective clinical supervision of staff, working with senior clinicians to assure quality and safety of practice.

Promote a positive team environment, ensuring clear role clarity, motivation, and accountability across multidisciplinary staff.

Compliance & Governance

Maintain strong governance practices, ensuring adherence to organisational policies, clinical standards, data protection (e.g. GDPR), and safeguarding protocols.

Lead the service in meeting Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulatory standards, preparing for inspections, embedding compliance frameworks, and responding to required actions.

Ensure awareness and application of infection prevention and control standards within service operations, working with clinical colleagues to maintain a safe and compliant care environment.

Oversee risk management, incident reporting processes, and ensure prompt resolution and escalation as required.

Quality, Audit & Service Improvement

Monitor service quality through audit, performance metrics, and service user feedback. Identify opportunities for improvements and support audit, research, and development activities.

Assist in the development and operationalisation of service protocols and policies.

Financial & Resource Management

Monitor resource use, budget considerations, and equipment needs, ensuring cost-effective and compliant management of service resources.

Coordinate procurement and maintenance of equipment relevant to lymphoedema service operations.

Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clinical teams, partner organisations, commissioners, and patient groups.
